Hausham, July 5, 2023: The international value and security printing company with its headquarters in Hausham has been awarded a silver medal by EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most reliable provider of sustainability ratings, placing it among the top 25% of all companies rated in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. This award is a significant milestone for Schwarz Druck and confirms the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Schwarz Druck in the green fast lane
Sustainability is one of the set values of the value and security printing company Schwarz Druck, which looks back on a 125-year-old corporate history. The company strives to minimize its environmental impact by embracing green printing technologies, renewable energy and sustainable sourcing practices. The medal confirms that Schwarz Druck embraces its environmental responsibilities and continuously strives to further improve its processes and products. EcoVadis emphasizes, “The company demonstrates advanced management in the area of the environment.”
Sustainability Officer sets clear goals
Sarah Egger, Sarah Egger, who is currently in the final stages of her Master’s degree in energy and sustainability management and has been working at Schwarz Druck for a year and a half as Project Manager and Sustainability Officer, has many green plans and has already implemented some. “First you have to make your voice heard and get the need for some changes in people’s minds. Create awareness.” Egger also argues, “I can lead the way, but of course the company must also be open to change and aware of this responsibility. In Schwarz Druck, I have found a company that reflects this openness and also wants to continuously improve in this regard.”
An excerpt of green successes of the industrial company
Schwarz Druck now dispenses with superfluous packaging material and attaches importance to its reusability and optimized packaging units. It also records CO² savings of 90 T per year thanks to a 915.4 m² photovoltaic system with an output of 140 kWp on the roof of the production hall. Since July 2020, the Hausham-based company has been certified according to ISO 14001. This standard defines requirements for environmental management based on a PDCA cycle. Also, as an official ClimatePartner since 2020, Schwarz Druck has the option of selecting a climate protection project to support in return for its own CO2 emissions, thereby offsetting the emissions.
In the area of sustainable mobility, Schwarz Druck now also offers bicycle leasing for employees in addition to wallboxes on the company premises.
